Our first day of school is tomorrow!
If bringing your child(ren) to school on the first day of school (which we completely understand!), you will likely find most homeroom staff members outside collecting their students. A number of non-homeroom staff will also likely be outside helping to direct students to the correct homeroom teacher. This will include students who take the bus. Should a bussed student not be able to find their homeroom staff member, a LFPS staff member will help them do so.
Kindergarten staff are usually located in the paved area outside of the Kindergarten fenced yard. If you have had a Kindergarten child previously, this is the area where Kindergarten staff come at the day’s end to drop students off to their families.
Grades 1 to 3 staff usually come to meet their students in the paved area outside of the main Primary entry doors (which is the set of south doors located closest to the main walkers’ gate). This is because most of our Primary classes tend to be in the part of the building which runs along Angeline Street. However, a few of our Primary classes are located in the back part of the school. Your child’s teacher may be in the paved area outside the entry doors by the Primary climber.
Grades 4 to 6 staff will either be in the paved area by the entry doors by the Primary climber or by their portables. All grade 6 students are in portables so students in this grade will know where to go! Generally our grades 4 to 6 students know where they are going and are able to quickly find their homeroom teacher.
Please be patient on this first morning. LFPS has more than 500 students so there are many students to place with their correct homeroom teacher.
After the first day (other than Junior Kindergarten families – who received a separate email a few days ago), families should drop their child(ren) off at the main walkers’ gate. Students will know where they should line up when the entry bell goes. Staff will help any students who do not know where they are going.
