Jan. 20, 2011 – Over the past couple of weeks, Mme Grenier’s students have been learning about simple machines. The study of moving things helps students develop both a sense of spatial relationships and an understanding of the relationship between stationary and moving objects. Students have been learning about the basic nature of movement as a change in position of an object. They have also been learning about the six basic types of simple machines (lever; inclined plane; pulley; wheel and axle, including gear; screw; wedge), and how they help humans to move objects.
The Principal, Mr. Sornberger, was invited to their classroom on Thursday to view the students’ inventions. He also filmed their creations.
