Changes To Your Child’s Regular End Of Day Plans

If there are changes to your child’s regular end of day plans, please write a physical note to your child’s teacher who will communicate this information to the office.  While a great deal of communication now takes place electronically (e.g., email or text messages) to homeroom staff, this is not always for the best.  If the homeroom staff  member is away or sick that day (or busy dealing with a situation) this information will not get to the office.

Ideally, write a physical note to your child’s teacher and also call the office at 705-324-5602.

We recognize that there will be emergency situations where changes to regular end of day plans will happen.  However, unless it is an absolute emergency, please do not make changes to end of day plans after 2:00 pm.  In a school the size of LFPS, the volume of phone calls to the office anytime after 2:00 pm is significant.  Taking phone calls and communicating changes to regular end of day plans is extremely difficult.

As well, a reminder that parent/guardian communication to students should come through the office rather than texting/calling your child.  Communication with our kids is easier than ever before because of cell phones and some of our older students are hitting the age when some do have cellphones of their own.  However, directly calling or texting your child during the school day is disruptive because the cellphone often makes a noise and/or causes the student to want to look at their cell phone which turns into a disruption.  Schools also run into the issue that a student calls/texts a parent that they are sick and the parent/guardian arrives at the school without the teacher or office being aware.  There has also been communication by students and parents/guardians changing end of day plans and school staff not finding out until the day’s end (often as the child is leaving school property).  With the number of students at LFPS, this creates a great deal of confusion and added stress at the day’s end.
