BMLSS hosts Arts Night

On November 22, Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School (BMLSS) hosted their first-ever Arts Night.

The evening invited guests to the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre and were welcomed with a performance of Eugene O’Neill’s play, Ile. The act was followed by live music in the main atrium and hors d’oeuvers and refreshments provided by the school’s hospitality and tourism students. Finally, the audience then stepped back into the theatre for the comedy Forbidden Fruit by George Jay Smith.

“The evening was all planned, directed, designed, developed, and implemented by BMLSS students,” said teacher, Kalen Westby. “We were able to connect students to the community in a positive way and give them the experience of putting on a professional show with the advanced facilities, staff, and technology available through Theatre Muskoka.”

All proceeds from the event will go back to the school to provide more arts programming in the future.
