Skipping 2010-2011

May 2, 2011 - Jump Rope for Heart 2010-2011

Don't forget this fun, worthy event on May 16th!

skipping

April 4, 2011 - Try-outs have begun for students in grades 3-8 for the skipping competition being held on May 5th. Skippers are working on their endurance, speed, power, and technique.

We have also set a date for our Jump-Rope-for Heart, which will be May 16th. Our team which performed at Lansdowne Mall back in January will demonstrate some tricks during our "Kick-off" assembly taking place on April 18th. More information regarding Jump-Rope-for-Heart will follow at a later date.

Feb. 4, 2011 - As a kick-off for Heart & Stroke Month, our skipping team, coached by Mrs. Medhurst and Mme Waterhouse, performed at Lansdowne Place on Saturday, January 29th. Their presentation can be viewed here.

~ Mrs. Medhurst & Mme Waterhouse

Jan. 29, 2011 - Under the leadership of Mrs. Medhurst and Mme Waterhouse, our Leslie Frost Skipping Team - Heart Heroes - performed at Lansdowne Place on Saturday.

What's a Heart Hero?

  • Being a Heart Hero means helping kids who are born with heart problems and helping all kids keep their hearts strong.
  • More than 8 out of 10 Canadian children between the ages of 5 and 17 aren't active enough to support optimal health and development, putting our children at serious risk for heart disease at a young age - but it doesn't have to be this way.
Enjoy the following video, filmed by Mr. Sornberger, from our Skipping Team's performance in Peterborough.

Skipping Team at Lansdowne Place, Peterborough, January 29, 2011

Under the coaching expertise of Mrs. Medhurst and Mme Waterhouse, our energetic students prepare for TLDSB's 2011 Skipping Competition where almost 500 students are expected to participate in skipping activities ranging from speed rope competition, to double-unders and freestyle pairs.
