April 30, 2012 - There were smiles, tears, and laughter today at Leslie Frost P.S. as the Pedal for Hope Cycling Team visited our school to support paediatric cancer research. Starting in late April for 3 weeks, the Pedal For Hope team cycles over 1,000 kilometres, visiting local schools and delivering a message about kids living with cancer.
Many parents, along with our students, staff, and Trustee Judith Hayes viewed a presentation which took on a serious side about how important it is to support paediatric cancer research. They showed a team video, shaved several heads, cut a few ponytails and they turned on the fun. Students were involved in ice cream eating contests, showing the lighter side of police officers in their community.
Recently, our students were told about one of their peers, Tessa, has bone cancer and is currently at Sick Kids in Toronto for tests and treatments. Tessa will have a long recovery and will not be back to school for some time. Everyone at Leslie Frost Public School are thinking about Tessa and her family and hope that she gets well very soon.
A video and other photos from this morning's event will be published online over the next couple of day.
