Pedal for Hope 2012 at Leslie Frost!

April 30, 2012 - There were smiles, tears, and laughter today at Leslie Frost P.S. as the Pedal for Hope Cycling Team visited our school to support paediatric cancer research. Starting in late April for 3 weeks, the Pedal For Hope team cycles over 1,000 kilometres, visiting local schools and delivering a message about kids living with cancer.

Many parents, along with our students, staff, and Trustee Judith Hayes viewed a presentation which took on a serious side about how important it is to support paediatric cancer research. They showed a team video, shaved several  heads, cut a few ponytails and they turned on the fun. Students were involved in ice cream eating contests, showing the lighter side of police officers in their community.

Recently, our students were told about one of their peers, Tessa, has bone cancer and is currently at Sick Kids in Toronto for tests and treatments. Tessa will have a long recovery and will not be back to school for some time. Everyone at Leslie Frost Public School are thinking about Tessa and her family and hope that she gets well very soon.

A video and other photos from this morning's event will be published online over the next couple of day.

Spirit Week at Leslie Frost!

April 20, 2012 - Guess what Lions? During the week of April 23-27, the Student Council and the Me to We team will be working together to put on a spirit week! Each day will have a different theme, and the whole week will be filled with tons of fun!

spirit-weekMonday: Hat and bubble gum day (Wear your favourite hat while chewing gum ALL day!)

Tuesday: Twin Tuesday (Pick someone and dress up the same together. Become twins!)

Wednesday: Crazy hair day (You know what that means! Time to show off your wackiest style!)

Thursday: Sports uniform day (Wear you after-school sports uniform. Hockey players wear their hockey uniforms, dancers wear dance uniforms...)

Friday: Disco Day! (Wear your classiest 70s style clothing and disco your way to class!)

The Student Council and the Me to We team would appreciate it if you could bring $5 on the Monday. The donations will be split between A Place Called Home and Pedal for Hope. That way each fun filled day is only $1!
