Growing and Learning ‘Math’ Together
Grandissons et apprenons le ‘Mathématiques’ ensemble

This is an evening to learn about math: through games, music, technology and cooking. We can influence our children’s success in math through a positive and game based approach to math.

You and your family will be able to visit each of the math stations to play, sample, and test; before you move to the next activity. There will be take home samples and ideas to continue the learning at home.
Activities are geared to all students: kindergarten to grade 8. Math stations will be set up in a number of classroom locations. There is no order that you must follow. Maps will be posted throughout the school. There is no sign up for the classroom locations. Each station will need about 10-15 minutes of your time. A list will be posted in many locations of all games and activities so that you might plan your Math Journey. We will hand out your Math Passport so that you can keep of record of your learning for the evening.

One activity, Finding the Math in Music offered by Mr Smeaton and Miss Kherraji, is a sign up activity. There is a maximum of 22 spots.

Throughout the hallways are a number of Estimation stations: there are prizes for these activities.

If you are interested in “Finding the Math in Music”: please return the bottom portion of this letter to the school to register you and your family members for this activity. You will be taking one hour to learn about the math using the hand bells and vocal music. This one hour session will run from 6-7. Afterwards, you can join the other activities to round out your math learning together.

We are interested in joining the finding the Math in music session from 6-7 pm
